groceryquest

a text-based adventure game, starring a little wizard. written from scratch in c++.

groceryquest is a project i started for a data structures course. it was messy for a it currently exists as a nonlinear text adventure demo. i do not plan to develop this game — instead i'll be keeping it as a demo. the world and story, however, may appear in future projects!

the concept of groceryquest was that you, the player, are an alchemist in a small village of wizards. you have a little home on the edge of this village, a cat familiar, and you run a potion dispensary in town. day 1 of groceryquest (which the demo just barely covers) follows the alchemist through her daily errands — making deliveries in town, picking up ingredients for her potions, a favor for a friend — and allows you to explore the wizard village.

on day 2 of groceryquest, the alchemist was going to wake up to the village on fire, raided by a hoard of skeletons. the alchemist would brave the rubble of the city, making her way to the timekeeper's tower to rewind time to before the attack.

act 2 of groceryquest, the main gameplay cycle, would be re-living the first day over and over, each time coming a little closer to preparing the community for the skeletons' attack.

tl;dr: a wizard's groundhog's day text adventure!
